Summary & Responsibilities Senior Packaging Engineer for Nevro
Corp, Redwood City, CA. Identify and implement packaging/labeling
process improvement projects. Develop/modify packaging
manufacturing processes. Train production trainers/operators to
new/modified processes. Analyze existing labeling/packaging
processes to identify areas for improvement. Develop kit
specifications for particular product/label requirements. Work with
cross-functional team on package/label kit configurations, GTIM
requirements, and latest label standards. Develop manufacturing
processes for packaging systems/materials. Develop/modify packaging
equipment/process validation principles and engineering
documentation practices/statistical analysis. Implement inspection
criteria for new package /label. Train production
trainers/operators on new/modified processes. Research/interpret
packaging specification requirements and external standards for use
in drafting test plans/protocols to satisfy regulatory/validation
requirements in project timelines. Create packaging specifications
and drawings and release in internal QMS. Research applicable
regulations/standards related to packaging/labeling requirements,
such as GMP, ISO standards, ASTM D4169, and ISO standards. Create
packaging drawings and dielines with Esko Artios CAD/AutoCAD.
Interpret regulatory requirements and identify application to
packaging/labeling systems. Create pallet configurations and pallet
assembly instructions with CAPE/TOPS Software. Use cutting table
machines (such as Zund/Kongsberg) to produce packaging prototypes.
Draft validation protocols/reports for transportation validation,
sterilization validation, accelerated aging and Real time aging
studies that outline how packaging/labeling systems will be tested
to ensure regulatory compliance. Write/review Quality Master
Validations Plans, protocols, and written reports; Create and
update product labels with Adobe Illustrator. Research, develop,
design, evaluate and document packaging systems, materials,
incoming receiving, and distribution systems for finished devices.
Conduct research to identify new packaging materials/designs.
Develop packaging systems/materials that meet product packaging
needs. Evaluate existing packaging systems to identify areas for
improvement. Document packaging systems/materials, including design
specifications/test results. Develop prototypes of packaging
systems/materials. Test packaging systems/materials to ensure they
meet necessary requirements. Assist in FDA/BSI regulated bodies
submissions. Serve as SME on packaging. Work with RA/Quality team
to respond to regulatory issues on new/existing package design.
Work with cross-functional and cross-regional teams to ensure
packaging solutions align with company goals. Work on packaging
sustainability projects and on performing gap analysis on periodic
basis for current design/new standards applicable to Nevro
products. Hybrid work permitted at employer’s discretion within
normal commuting distance. Role Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree in
Packaging Engineering or related degree and 6 years of progressive
post baccalaureate experience as a Packaging Engineer or similar
position. 6 years of experience with the following: • Developing
and designing packaging for finished devices; • Regulatory
requirements and industry standards, including GMP, ISO standards,
and ASTM D4169 guidelines; • Packaging Equipment/Materials and
Process Validation principles; • Maintaining engineering
documentation and applying statistical analysis for packaging
validations and quality control; • Creating packaging drawings and
dielines with Esko Artios CAD/AutoCAD; • Creating pallet
configurations and pallet assembly instructions with CAPE/TOPS
Software; • Collaborating cross-functionally with various teams to
ensure packaging solutions align with overall project goals; and •
Packaging sustainability projects. • 5 years of experience with
