TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES: CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES Provides strength-based assessment of child's developmental, emotional, and social functioning within the context of family or congregate care. Provides leadership and consultation to Campus Services programs regarding mental health assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of individualized treatment plans, and makes recommendations to team members regarding child's medical necessity, degree of symptom/functionality acuity, and estimated length of treatment Demonstrates the ability to think creatively and intervene/respond in crisis situations. Collaborates with Finance team to prepare documentation necessary to obtain pre-authorizations and re-authorizations for mental health services from insurance plans or other entities that require them. Conducts emergency interventions, suicide assessments and hospitalizations, as appropriate; and establishes necessary safety plans for the interim until therapist assignment is made. Works in conjunction with program managers to coordinate treatment direction at designated team decision-making meetings, providing feedback regarding appropriate treatment modalities and clinician assignments based on the client's needs; individual, group, family, etc. Consults with Agency Psychiatrist regularly on medication/psychiatric issues. Utilizes supervision, consultation and training as necessary to continue to provide high quality services to children and their families as effectively and efficiently as possible. Demonstrates an understanding of confidentiality policies, mandated child abuse reporting and duty to warn procedures. Utilizes clinical supervision in any case where these issues are in question. MANAGMENT RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Develops, expands, maintains, and implements services and activities which support client services and clinical programs, including facilitating intakes and admissions, discharge procedures, and completes administrative projects as assigned. Maintains professional written and verbal communication with all referral sources, including consumers, RCS staff, social workers, school personnel, law enforcement, and mental health workers, and SCC Mental Health Call Center. Promotes an organizational structure and work practices based on effective team management that support the development of an efficient system that meets and exceeds the vision and goals of the program. Promotes the professional skill development of all team members and provides opportunities for advancement within the department. Plans and manages all aspects of the centralized intake and admissions department. Maintains and expands appropriate and consistent referrals and occupancy within all clinical programs. Oversees the collection of initial referral information and the determination of financial qualifications. Oversees scheduling of assessment and/or pre-placement meetings, notification to all parties, and correspondence relating intent to admit or deny. Oversees preparation of admission documents, provides documents in advance for signature as necessary, facilitates admission meetings, assures that all necessary documents are completed and/or provided, and follows up on all non-mandatory missing documents. Supervises establishment of clinical charts (Client Record Sets), assuring they are complete and well organized in compliance with Community Care Licensing regulations, Medi-Cal, County Mental Health and other contractual and governmental regulations. Supervises HD Admission Clinician, Hospital Diversion Therapists and Residential Therapists, and indirectly supervises intern staff. Promotes an atmosphere that supports excellence in client and customer services throughout the department and the agency. Provides leadership, management, training and mentoring, demonstrating effective strength-based individualized child care interventions and skills. Guides and mentors therapists regarding the implementation of the various written programs, and individual treatment issues and plans for each child in the On-Campus Programs. Provides employee feedback, assessments, improvement plans and progressive discipline when applicable according to RCS policy and procedure. Oversees the clinical aspects of all campus services (therapeutic programing, number and types of groups, individual and family therapy) Provides psychotherapy services (ex. individual, family therapy, collateral, groups) in the absence of clinical staff for campus programs. Provides trainings for campus staff on therapeutic issues affecting the milieu and mentors clinical staff in facilitating group activities with youth. Provides mentorship and supervision for the student internship program. If 2 years post licensure, provides individual and group supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: MFT, MSW or equivalent required. Three (3) years of experience in a setting working with children and families. Experience working in a children's mental health setting emphasizing a family systems perspective, preferred. Supervisory, management and training experience, preferred. Familiarity with wraparound philosophy and practices. Excellent verbal, written and time management skills. Knowledge of Healthcare Industry, MediCal/Medicare and private insurance companies, admissions, billing, and authorizations. LICENSE(S): California license (LCSW, LPCC, MFT, Psy.D. or Ph.D.) strongly preferred, licensed waivered required. Current BBS Registration with BBS or the Board of Psychology if not licensed. California driver's license and good DMV report (ability to be insured by our insurance carrier).
