R&D TECHNICIAN/ASSOCIATE - CAREER OPPORTUNITY!AGRICULTURAL
MANUFACTURER Background & Experience in Seed and/or Plant
Physiology, pathology, soil science and plant nutrition would be
beneficial***The primary purpose of this Scientist position is to
conduct applied research as part of our North American Research and
Development Team; directly contributing to the improved field
performance of our new and existing conventional and organic seed
products. As a member of the team you will be focused on inventing
and developing novel seed products to address the needs of our
diverse customers. Your work will involve in multiple aspects of
our research and product development process including: seed
treatment; germination testing; plant physiology; seed physiology;
microbiology; field trialing; quantitative analysis. The
application of your biological sciences knowledge will be critical
in keeping our business at the forefront of technology within the
North American seed technology marketplace.Responsibilities:Perform
research and development of new seed treatments and enabling
technologies for the improvement of germination and vigour of
seedsProvide clear, concise instructions to technicians executing
directed researchTrack experiment results in both laboratory
notebooks and electronic records, keeping both fully organized and
detailedConduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on
experimental and field trial results to identify trends and paths
forwardProduce clear and concise reports to enable the presentation
of findings and conclusionsSupport the Lead Scientist in tracking
projects progress within PMO frameworkTransfer technical knowledge
to the operations and quality assurance teams to allow success
large scale application of new technologiesCommunicate product
efficacy information as directed to the commercial team while
protecting intellectual propertyPropose field trial layouts, and
provide effective execution of the field trial, compile and present
data analysis to key stakeholdersParticipate in rapid response team
projects on an ad hoc basisBuild effective internal and external
relationships to ensure a clear understanding of customer needs and
represent the business in a professional mannerWilling assist other
team members in conducting experiments on small and larger scales
in both the labs and the manufacturing facilityKeep laboratory
neat, organized and functional, and adopt a clean as you go work
ethicEnsure adherence to health and safety policy and
practicesAssist in HSE investigations identified through near miss
reporting, as and when requiredSupport best practice health and
safety to ensure zero lost injuriesDispose of all waste streams
appropriately in line with the companys Environmental
proceduresComplete administrative paperwork as required for company
reporting proceduresAdditional work identified as necessary by the
Lead ScientistEducation:Minimum requirements - Bachelor's Degree in
a science-based curriculum or agriculture-based area of
studyExperience:One to three years' experience in biological
sciences area with experience designing, conducting and analyzing
laboratory experiments and/or agricultural field trials. Experience
in seed and/or plant physiology, pathology, soil science and plant
nutrition would be be a plusA competitive salary and benefits
package will be offered for the role which will be commensurate
with the experience and track record of the successful candidate.
As we operate a continuous process some weekend working during our
peak season might be required.Compensation:$50K - $60K + Benefits +
Retirement
